Uncommon Beauty
Wildflowers and Flowering Shrubs of Southern Alberta and Southeastern British Columbia

by Neil L. Jennings

"This is a book for the curious."  - from the introduction

Uncommon Beauty explores the wildflowers and flowering shrubs of a large area from Jasper down to Creston, over to Glacier National Park in Montana, and up through Lethbridge and Edmonton. Extensively researched by author and outdoors enthusiast Neil L. Jennings, this guide will inform and intrigue the reader, while also assisting with plant recognition and identification.

Exceptional photographs of over 200 species of flowering plants, plus information about each plant, make Uncommon Beauty the ideal field guide for hikers (and amblers) of all skill levels. For ease of reference, the book is arranged by flower colour and by plant family. A complete index is included, using common and scientific names for all plants.

Neil L. Jennings is an ardent fly fisher, hiker and photographer who loves "getting down in the dirt" pursuing his keen interest in wildflowers. For 22 years he was a co-owner of Country Pleasures, a fly fishing retailer in Calgary. He fly fishes extensively, both in fresh and saltwater, and his angling pursuits usually lead him to wildflower investigations in a variety of venues. He has taught fly-fishing-related courses in Calgary for over 20 years, and his photographs and writings on the subject have appeared in a number of outdoor magazines.

Neil lives in Calgary with Linda, his wife of over 30 years. They spend a lot of time outdoors togetether chasing fish, flowers and, as often as possible, grandchildren.
