| Where is Kananaskis Country? Kananaskis Country is a wildland recreation area located south of Banff on the Alberta side of the Canadian Rockies. The terrain progresses from the forested foothills south and east of Calgary to the glaciated summits of the Continental Divide. Free from the more onerous restrictions of the National Parks, Kananaskis Country is enjoyed by hikers, climbers, mountain bikers and skiers. The area contains some of the best and most easily accessible hiking in the Canadian Rockies. Open ridges on the Divide give fabulous views into the wild mountainous country of British Columbia.
